TANDA FOUNDATION:

postcard3

Social networks concentrate power as they involved many people.

Tanda Foundation is an experimental social network that connects projects with funding,
by merging the logic of 501(c)(3) non for profit institutions and a free form of economy popular
among illegal immigrants called "Tanda".

The goal is to harness the habit of micro-funding creative practice as a collective effort
to descentralize it from institutions. Tanda aims to offer an
accountable platform where the community participate directly in the creation of their
creative capital and resources, to take more control - or at least share - desitions over their cultural agenda.

Tanda Foundation exists as a web 2.0 structure that allows the creative working class to donate
money towards the collection of a monthly tanda, that is awarded to applicants based on votes.
By donating money users get voting priviledges, however any user is allowed to apply.
The money collected, number of votes, who voted, feedback on proposals are public
and published dinamically and in web 2.0 format.

Tanda Foundation offers in addition to financial support, "association grants", which allows
recipients to include the Tanda Foundation in their resume to increase their chances of
receiving grants from other foundations or being considered in the art market. If the network
surrounding Tanda Foundation grows or the popularity of grant recipients increases, the more
valuable the affiliation and its community becomes.

Tanda Foundation platform is currently in development.
The funding is possible by repurposing a month of my stipend at Eyebeam some investment made in
Mike Merril, a virtual stock market -and by exchanging
dollars for buttons. Tanda Foundation will be launched on September 2008.
